Violin Mutes
Different violin mutes can have a great deal of variation in sound reduction, sound quality and ease of use . Often different mutes are required for different applications, e.g. mutes for orchestral use, mutes for quiet practice, mutes for a particular sound effect. Mutes can be made of metal, wood, and flexible material like rubber. Flexible/rubber mutes can usually be fitted to any bridge. Ebony mutes may need to be fitted by a luthior to the individual bridge first for best results. Metal mutes are more diffict to adjust in their dimensions so can usually only be fitted to correctly/traditionally thinned bridges.
There are also mutes for fractional sizes of violin which we presently don't list but usually have in stock.
