3 pronged Ebony violin mute

This mute is also known as a triple prong violin mute and is one of the oldest and most traditional type of violin mute

These mutes are fitted on the bridge when required.

The effect of these mutes is moderate to heavy and can be used in performance as well as practise.

Fitting and removing of these mutes is easy but with the following caveat; in some cases either the bridge is too thick or the gap in the mute is not wide enough. We would advise that the mute is fitted to the bridge by a luthior. This will give  not only ease of fitting and removal by the player  but also maximum effect.
