The Jay Haide Company was formed in 1992 and the name is taken from the two founders Jay Ifshin and Haide Lin their aim being to produce stringed instruments of consistant and high quality. Haide Lin was the then shop foreman of Ifshin Violins who was already a master violin maker trained in Guangzhou, China.

The Jay Haide workshop is organized very much like the great 19 century workshops in Mirecourt, France. In these workshops, individual craftsmen specialised in making a particular part or completing a particular process of the instrument, for example making the top, making the neck, bending ribs or the process of varnishing. Jay Haide also have a collection of old Italian and rare instruments in which to take inspiration and ideas.
