The stringing in pairs really changes the quality of sound, giving a mandolin or perhaps bouzouki sound quality. Some pairs are in unison (both strings play the same note) and some are in octaves. The instruments presently listed use the standard ukulele tuning of G-C-E-A, so if you can play a standard ukulele the Kala 6 or 8 string will present no change for you with all the familiar chord shapes the same. The only difference is that some strings use a double row.
Setting up is very important on a 6 or 8 string. If the action is a little too high, you will really feel it as you are pressing down more strings. All of our ukuleles benefit from a professional and extensive set up, where we attend to height of the strings at both the top nut and saddle as well as fret leveling and finishing.
Cases for these are easy - a Kala or Kinsman tenor case fits perfectly. Don't forget that we always have an offer for buying both together, please contact us for current offers.
